Lab-in-a-box

Medical treatments that use growth factors extracted from the patient’s own platelets are increasingly used in joint diseases. We have designed a simple single-use lab-in-a-box to obtain growth factors from all the blood cells extracted from patients, not just the platelets. The biggest challenge was designing a simple, economical, mechanical system which would perform all the functions needed, and obtain all its power from the centrifugal acceleration field. Our client also stressed that it was important for the lab-in-a-box to be both ergonomic and attractive, as it wants to promote an innovative image in the medical sector.
